What you will do

• Drive technical decision-making and system architecture design within cross-functional teams.
• Lead the definition of user needs, business requirements, and system-level concepts.
• Manage technical risks, product hazards, and failure modes throughout the development lifecycle.
• Plan and execute user evaluations in lab-based surgical environments to validate system concepts.
• Troubleshoot system component integration and support the introduction of designs into clinical workflows.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to internal and cross-business development teams.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree with 7+ years of experience, Master's with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Must possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization or qualify for sponsorship at the Principal level.
• Proven expertise in Systems Engineering, including requirements decomposition and functional architecture.
• Experience in the medical device industry or surgical techniques.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large projects and mentor lower-level professionals.
• Ability to apply sound engineering judgment while utilizing modern AI-enabled tools for development support.

Nice to have

• Experience with software design, algorithm design, and GUI development.
• Familiarity with tools such as Polarion, Miro, Figma, or CAD software.
• Project management experience including planning, estimation, and budget oversight.
• Experience with mechanical or electrical design and tolerance analysis.
