TL;DR

Orbital Analyst (OA) Instructor (Aerospace Engineering): Developing and delivering instruction for Space Domain Awareness and orbital analysis to military and contractor analysts with an accent on orbital mechanics, data evaluation, and mission processes. Location: On-site at Schriever Space Force Base, CO (Secured classified facility)

Salary: $110,000 – $145,000

Aerospace Engineering and IT company specializing in the development and maintenance of the Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) for U.S. Government spaceflight safety.

What you will do

  • Develop and deliver SDA and orbital analysis training materials to take analysts from fundamentals to mission-ready proficiency.
  • Instruct trainees on orbit determination, tracking, and prediction using established mathematical models and algorithms.
  • Analyze orbital data from ground- and space-based sensors to serve as a model for analysts under instruction.
  • Collaborate with senior orbital analysts to track potential collision risks and threats to national space assets.
  • Refine mission processes and procedures, ensuring lessons learned are captured in updated training curricula.
  • Support operators executing the National Space Defense Center (NSDC) Protect and Defend mission.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship and Active TS/SCI clearance required (must be eligible for CI polygraph).
  • Bachelor's degree in Astrodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in Space Situational Awareness, orbital analysis, or collision avoidance in a cleared environment.
  • Proven proficiency in orbit determination and orbital mechanics.
  • Prior experience in technical instruction, mentorship, or on-the-job qualification.
  • Basic proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or shell.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Current CI polygraph and prior Special Access Program (SAP) access.
  • Experience supporting USSPACECOM, NSDC, or national-security space missions.
  • Formal instructor certification.
  • Familiarity with ASW or similar astrodynamics mission software.
  • Knowledge of Python numerical libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy).
