TL;DR
Orion GN&C Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and evaluating safety-critical, human-rated GN&C flight software for NASA's Orion spacecraft with an accent on orbital mechanics and 6 DOF simulation analysis. Focus on building complex algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink and collaborating with NASA teams to support the Artemis Program and deep space missions.
Location: Must be based in Clear Lake, Houston, TX, USA. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.

What you will do
- Develop and test GN&C algorithms using MATLAB and Simulink.
- Collaborate with NASA civil servants to refine flight software requirements.
- Review simulation results from 6 DOF analysis tools.
- Update orbital mechanics models and author technical documentation.
- Integrate new trajectory optimization algorithms into flight software.
- Present analysis findings to the project team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with at least 1 year of experience.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency.
- Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Experience with GN&C algorithms, orbital mechanics, and 6 DOF simulations.
- Proficiency in Linux, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++.
- Experience with Git/GitLab and space system requirements development.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
- Experience with safety-critical, human-rated embedded software development.
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC standard practices and simulation architectures like Trick or JEOD.
- Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.
