Employee Relations Director (Aerospace): Leading workplace investigations and building an employee relations program for an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft company with an accent on legally defensible findings, case governance, and employment-law compliance. Focus on designing investigation frameworks, advising leaders and legal partners, analyzing case trends, and improving policies, training, and reporting.

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base pay: $204,400–$255,500 per year

What you will do

  • Lead impartial investigations into harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, policy violations, workplace violence, threats, theft, data security incidents, conflicts of interest, and other workplace matters.
  • Design and continuously improve investigation intake, triage, risk-rating, documentation, and case-management processes across People, Legal, and partner functions.
  • Prepare investigation reports, written findings, disciplinary recommendations, and complete case records.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance on agency charges, regulatory matters, external counsel, and preventive actions.
  • Advise managers, HRBPs, and senior leaders on performance management, discipline, conflict resolution, and sensitive employee matters.
  • Build training, metrics, trend reporting, policies, and governance while supporting broader HR activities during lower ER case volume.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Employment Law, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience focused on employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Experience independently leading complex, high-risk, confidential investigations and producing legally defensible reports.
  • Deep knowledge of federal and California employment law, including experience with EEOC and DFEH/CRD agency charges.
  • Experience with HRIS, case-management tools, investigation-program design, metrics, and documentation standards.
  • Exceptional judgment, objectivity, discretion, confidentiality, executive presence, and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree, MBA, MHRM, or Juris Doctor.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in high-growth technology, aerospace, defense, or regulated environments.
  • Union or labor relations experience, Title IX investigations, or employment-law attorney experience.
  • Experience scaling ER functions, investigation playbooks, case-management systems, and leadership dashboards.
