Lead Fire Protection Engineer/Consultant

Location: Houston, TX metro area, with offices in Austin, Allen, and Houston, Texas, and Denver, Colorado. Must be local to the Houston, TX metro area or willing to relocate. Travel to job sites in Texas, Colorado, and/or surrounding states is required.

Salary: $90,000–$165,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Provide fire protection consulting services, including life safety code consulting, fire protection design, fire alarm and mass notification design, smoke control design, hazardous materials consulting, system commissioning, and performance-based solutions.
• Develop plans, specifications, inspection reports, and other technical deliverables in accordance with professional service standards.
• Investigate and resolve design problems through field investigations, research, detailed design, and review of others’ calculations.
• Conduct building code, egress, fire detection and alarm, smoke control, sprinkler, and water supply reviews, including hydraulic calculations.
• Communicate with engineers, specialty consultants, clients, owners, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders; perform CAD/Revit production or document review as needed.
• Manage projects through proposal development, scope, schedule, budget, resources, milestones, and client interaction, while participating in business development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher.
• 5+ years of experience in fire protection engineering.
• Must be local to the Houston, TX metro area or willing to relocate.
• Ability to travel to job sites in Texas, Colorado, and/or surrounding states.
• Effective written and oral communication skills for reports, business correspondence, presentations, procedure manuals, and responses to questions from managers, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Ability to identify applicable codes and standards and read and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and business materials.
