Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Merritt Island, FL, USA — hybrid, with in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility. Up to 25% travel. Must hold a valid and unrestricted Florida driver's license and be a U.S. citizen eligible for Secret Security Clearance.

Salary: $90,000–$125,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design, evaluate, and plan fire protection systems for laboratory, federal government, private space industry, and specialized facility projects.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and standpipe systems and prepare drawings, specifications, design narratives, and supporting calculations.
• Review NFPA, IBC/IFC, UFC, and other fire protection and life safety requirements for project compliance.
• Conduct life safety evaluations covering occupancy, egress, fire ratings, fire areas, and hazardous materials.
• Coordinate fire protection requirements with architectural, engineering, civil, and process or mission equipment disciplines.
• Lead field investigations, system assessments, QA/QC reviews, client coordination, and resolution of technical concerns.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of fire protection design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA and other fire protection and life safety codes and standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam Revu or fire protection modeling and drafting software is preferred.
• U.S. citizenship, eligibility for Secret Security Clearance, and a valid unrestricted Florida driver’s license required.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other fire protection system modeling and drafting software.
• Experience leading teams and managing projects.
