Fire Protection Engineer

Fire Protection Engineer (Engineering): Providing engineering design, evaluation, and planning of fire protection systems for DOD, Federal, and Private Space Industry projects with an accent on NFPA codes, hydraulic calculations, and life safety compliance. Focus on designing lasting solutions for specialized facilities, performing QA/QC on suppression systems, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Location: Hybrid (Merritt Island, FL). Must be a US Citizen for Security Clearance requirements.

Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 per year

What you will do

• Study, evaluate, and design fire protection systems for laboratory, federal government, and private space industry facilities.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and standpipe systems and prepare detailed construction documents.
• Review and establish applicable NFPA codes, IBC/IFC requirements, and UFC Criteria for specific projects.
• Conduct life safety and code compliance evaluations regarding occupancy, egress, fire ratings, and hazardous materials.
• Coordinate fire protection requirements with architectural, civil, and process/mission equipment disciplines.
• Perform QA/QC of fire suppression, fire alarm, and detection systems design work.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of fire protection design experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license is required.
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain or maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Valid/Unrestricted FL driver license.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bluebeam Revu or other Fire Protection system modeling and drafting software.
