Senior Network Systems Engineer

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Hybrid work with some level of in-office and/or in-person expectations.

Target salary: 147,900–220,000 USD annual OTE, including base salary and potential commission.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate enterprise routing across the global network, including BGP, OSPF, internet edge, WAN, and inter-site connectivity.
• Engineer and operate Cisco SD-WAN using Catalyst SD-WAN/Viptela, including policy design, templates, site onboarding, and overlay/underlay troubleshooting.
• Lead campus LAN, wireless, and network access initiatives across global offices and labs.
• Resolve escalated Tier 3/4 incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver permanent fixes.
• Deliver new site builds, refreshes, migrations, change plans, monitoring, documentation, and operational standards.
• Mentor engineers and help replace manual network operations with automation and infrastructure as code.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of enterprise routing, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, route redistribution, path selection, and policy-based routing.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS-XE, ASR/ISR, Catalyst 8000, and enterprise-scale routing.
• Deep Cisco SD-WAN/Viptela expertise, including vManage/Catalyst Manager, vBond, vSmart, policy design, templates, and site onboarding.
• Expertise in campus LAN architecture, Layer 2/Layer 3 design, switching, wireless networking, RF planning, roaming, and network access control.
• Typically 8+ years of enterprise network engineering and operations experience, including a senior or lead technical role.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident resolution, communication, cross-regional collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Python, Ansible, Terraform, network-as-code, Git workflows, CI/CD, and workflow orchestration experience.
• Network observability and telemetry experience with tools such as ThousandEyes, NetScout, SolarWinds, LiveAction, or streaming telemetry.
• Cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or OCI, plus SRE, AIOps, AI-agent, firewall, data-center networking, or load-balancing experience.
• CCNP, CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, Cisco SD-WAN specialization, or equivalent certification.
