Location: Must be based in Illinois, USA (Remote/Hybrid)

Salary: $112,000 – $168,000

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end investigations into complex ER matters such as misconduct, discrimination, and policy violations.
  • Manage high-risk performance cases, including PIPs and involuntary separations, ensuring consistency and fairness.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in multi-state and global employment law to mitigate legal and reputational risks.
  • Coach managers on feedback delivery, documentation standards, and navigating difficult conversations.
  • Analyze ER case data to identify systemic patterns and drive improvements to internal playbooks and workflows.
  • Design and deliver manager education on bias mitigation and performance management rigor.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated ER or HR compliance role.
  • Proven track record of leading workplace investigations independently from intake to resolution.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state employment law and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong written communication skills for producing clear, legally-defensible documentation.
  • Ability to manage sensitive, high-risk cases with discretion and sound judgment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in global SaaS, technology, or pre-IPO company environments.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms like Workday or Rippling and case management tools.
