Engineering Group Manager (Analytics and Health Management)

TL;DR

Engineering Group Manager (Analytics and Health Management): Leading a multi-disciplinary team of Data Analysts, AI/ML Scientists, and Feature Engineers to deliver analytics products and AI/ML models for embedded controls with an accent on operational efficiency and data-driven decision making. Focus on building scalable data pipelines, implementing MLOps practices, and ensuring a single version of truth across the organization.

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan (expected to report to office at least 3 times a week)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team including Data Analysts, AI/ML Scientists, Data Engineers, and Business Strategists.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of analytics products, including dashboards, data pipelines, and strategic decision-support tools using Power BI, Databricks, and cloud platforms.
• Drive the adoption of modern data practices such as medallion architecture, Delta Lake, streaming pipelines, and automated workflows.
• Partner with stakeholders across Embedded Controls and Software & Services to translate ambiguous business needs into concrete deliverables.
• Champion a data-first culture and influence how the organization consumes and acts on data insights.
• Manage performance, career development, and succession planning for direct reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Data Science, Computer Science, Software, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering).
• Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, data analytics, or safety-critical system development.
• Demonstrated success in project execution and multi-functional leadership.
• Ability to make critical decisions regarding safety-critical systems.
• Working knowledge of software development and delivery processes for embedded content (design, coding, testing, deployment).
• Must be based in the US; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

• Master of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• Experience in automotive or manufacturing domains, specifically with vehicle telematics or warranty analytics.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices and Agile development frameworks.
• Knowledge of embedded controls toolsets such as IBM Rational Tool Suite, Jira/Jira Align, and the Git ecosystem.
