What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of 4-5 engineers through coaching and building a product-minded data engineering culture.
• Own the team's roadmap sequencing and negotiate priorities with product stakeholders.
• Balance the dual demands of maintaining a data platform and delivering product-specific features.
• Guide the team through an active transition toward data streaming and improve overall data modeling standards.
• Drive the shift toward distributed data ownership across product teams.
• Build foundations for AI data governance, including guardrails, access control, and safety for agentic analytics.

Requirements

• Proven experience at Staff Engineer level (or equivalent) in a data engineering context.
• Strong player-coach mindset with a desire to transition into people management.
• Advanced stakeholder management skills and the ability to negotiate compromises with product teams.
• Deep expertise in data modeling to set team-wide standards.
• Experience managing or developing engineers, focusing on technical fundamentals and product thinking.
• Strong communication skills to drive cultural shifts toward self-service data ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience with data governance for AI agents (guardrails, safety, access control).
• Familiarity with data lakes, semantic layers, and orchestration tooling at scale.
• Experience working within a product-led B2B SaaS environment.
• Hands-on experience with streaming technologies like Kafka or Flink.
