Assistant Lawyer - Personal Injury (Complex Injury)

What you will do

• Support a Lead Lawyer with a caseload of complex, high-value and catastrophic injury claims.
• Review medical, liability and quantum evidence, identify key issues and prepare chronologies and records.
• Draft advice on indemnity, liability, quantum, causation and case strategy, as well as pleadings, applications and other legal documents.
• Liaise with insurer clients, insured parties, witnesses and other claim participants; interview witnesses and draft witness statements.
• Attend conferences, JSMs, mediations, court hearings, trials and settlement conferences remotely and in person.
• Support Legal Assistants and Paralegals through delegation, guidance and accurate case management.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in injury litigation, including significant fast-track experience or above; claimant and defendant backgrounds are considered.
• Qualified Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer or proven relevant legal experience.
• Strong understanding of indemnity, liability and quantum, with excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Experience with complex medical issues and calculating claim values using Ogden tables, or willingness to develop these skills.
• Good advocacy, telephone advocacy, communication, planning and prioritisation skills.
• Good IT skills, including Word, Excel and Microsoft Office.
