Senior CFD Engineer (Plasma)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid model with around three days per week based in the Shoreditch office. Global travel to North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania is required for an average of 3–4 weeks per quarter.

What you will do

• Build and own computational plasma models for semiconductor manufacturing, including plasma etching, CVD/ALD deposition, and ion-driven surface interactions.
• Work directly with semiconductor customers, often on-site, to scope engineering challenges, design modelling strategies, and present results that support process decisions.
• Select appropriate simulation tools and fidelity levels, including COMSOL, HPEM, VizGlow, and CFD-ACE+, and validate results against experimental or industrial process data.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to integrate simulation work into AI-powered workflows.
• Independently scope, execute, and deliver solutions for open-ended, highly specialised engineering problems.
• Lead projects, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to collaborative delivery teams.

Requirements

• Senior-level expertise in CFD and plasma physics applied to semiconductor manufacturing, including plasma etching, deposition, and surface processing.
• Strong background in computational plasma modelling, including plasma chemistry, sheath dynamics, ion energy distribution, and plasma-surface interactions.
• Industry experience ideally within or directly supporting semiconductor manufacturing.
• Proficiency in Python or a similar language for workflow automation, data handling, and integration with simulation tools.
• Ability to work independently on open-ended, highly specialised problems with minimal oversight.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients, define challenges, present results clearly, and co-develop solutions.
• Ability to collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and customers.
• Willingness to travel globally for an average of 3–4 weeks per quarter and work on-site with customers.

Nice to have

• Awareness of machine learning in physics-based simulation workflows.
• Plasma experience from industries other than semiconductors.
