Senior Director, Infrastructure Engineering (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Remote in the United Kingdom, the United States (AMER), Germany, Ireland, or Spain.

Salary: £200,000–£240,000 in the United Kingdom; $260,000–$320,000 in the United States, plus discretionary bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead, develop, and grow multidisciplinary infrastructure engineering SMEs across architecture, electrical, mechanical, cooling, structural, civil, controls, and network disciplines.
• Develop and deploy engineering design standards and specifications for AI factories across EMEA and AMER.
• Shape the Reference Design for AI factory infrastructure, balancing performance, cost, delivery speed, and scalability.
• Support projects from concept and detailed design through construction and commissioning, resolving technical issues.
• Align facility design with compute, rack, and network requirements and translate evolving AI hardware requirements into design standards.
• Own engineering governance, technical assurance, procurement standardisation, safety, reliability, maintainability, efficiency, and executive reporting.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or building services engineering; chartered or professional engineer status such as CEng or PE is preferred.
• Significant data-centre or mission-critical infrastructure engineering experience, including senior leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Deep technical expertise in at least one core discipline, such as power distribution or cooling, with strong working knowledge across all infrastructure disciplines.
• Track record developing and deploying design standards, reference designs, or basis-of-design documents for a hyperscale, colocation, or large-scale data-centre developer.
• Hands-on experience with high-density and liquid-cooled environments for AI and HPC workloads, including understanding how GPU cluster requirements drive facility design.
• Strong commercial judgement balancing capital expenditure, schedule, reliability, and operability.
• Confident executive-level communication, with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative leadership style that builds trust across partner teams and maintains engineering standards.

Nice to have

• Exposure to both North American and European projects, or to utility-scale power, onsite generation, or energy storage.
