Ruby on Rails Engineer (Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; hirify.global is set up to hire residents of Alabama, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Occasional travel to client sites or company meetings may be required.

Salary: $96,132–$142,000 annual hiring range; broader salary range is $96,132–$162,462, with a discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React.
• Build RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures for secure identity and authentication services.
• Develop accessible interfaces aligned with Section 508 and WCAG requirements.
• Build, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-native applications in AWS, including RDS and CloudWatch.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using GitHub Actions and Terraform.
• Participate in on-call and deployment rotations and collaborate with product, security, privacy, and federal stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on full-stack Ruby on Rails development experience.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, object-oriented programming, domain modeling, and modular or service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with JavaScript, React, AWS, PostgreSQL/RDS, CloudWatch, CI/CD, Terraform, and GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility practices and experience supporting production applications through incident response.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain public trust clearance and reside in one of the eligible U.S. states.

Nice to have

• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, MFA, identity proofing, document verification, fraud detection, or risk-based authentication.
• Familiarity with NIST Digital Identity Guidelines SP 800-63-3 and federal or highly regulated identity systems.
