Sr. Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails

Location: Remote - US

Base salary: $120,000–$180,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Shape technical direction for the Essentials squad, contribute to architecture decisions, and unblock teammates while remaining hands-on.
• Develop maintainable Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React code; improve quality through code reviews and pair programming.
• Design and optimize backend systems, APIs, data flows, relational databases, SQL queries, and data models.
• Build modern, responsive front-end experiences with React, TypeScript, and CSS.
• Lead projects from problem breakdown through delivery, managing risks, estimates, scope, and technical trade-offs.
• Prototype LLM and automation use cases for engineering and internal workflows while applying safeguards for healthcare data and regulated billing.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of full-stack development experience, with Ruby on Rails as a core strength.
• Strong experience with React; 5+ years is preferred.
• Experience leading projects end-to-end and creating technical direction for yourself and others.
• Hands-on fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in LLM APIs, prompt design, evaluation, and safety for sensitive data.
• Strong communication, project management, organization, mentoring, and independent decision-making skills.
