What you will do

• Order medical records and billing statements from hospitals, physicians, and other medical facilities.
• Track outstanding requests and follow up regularly to ensure timely receipt of documentation.
• Review incoming records for completeness and accuracy, immediately requesting missing data.
• Upload and organize OCR-searchable records into case management software according to firm standards.
• Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of all protected health information.
• Keep attorneys and case managers updated on the status of outstanding medical records.

Requirements

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Minimum 2 years of experience obtaining medical records in a personal injury law firm, medical office, or record retrieval company.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Proficiency with Gmail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and PDF software.
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
• Fast and accurate typing skills (minimum 50 WPM preferred).

Nice to have

• Prior experience working specifically within a personal injury law firm.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and lien documentation.
• Experience using MyCase case management software.
• Knowledge of electronic fax systems and secure medical record portals.
