Credit Officer - FI Insurance (Credit Risk and Insurance): Conducting independent credit analysis and making recommendations on lending, trading limits, and internal ratings for insurance clients with an accent on portfolio monitoring, counterparty risk, and sector risk assessment. Focus on evaluating derivatives and securities financing exposures, developing credit strategies, and making risk mitigation recommendations across brokers, life insurers, non-life insurers, and Lloyd’s of London.

What you will do
- Lead a portfolio of insurance clients, assessing sector, market, counterparty, and idiosyncratic risks.
- Conduct independent credit analysis and make recommendations on lending, trading limits, and internal ratings.
- Monitor portfolio risks, concentrations, emerging sector developments, and required mitigation actions.
- Contribute to sector strategy, risk appetite, credit policies, underwriting processes, and data integrity initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships with Coverage and Product teams as a trusted credit risk partner.
- Develop towards exercising delegated credit authority and support junior team members.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of insurance business models, regulatory environments, capital frameworks, and key risk drivers.
- Robust financial and non-financial analysis skills for insurance firms.
- Strong knowledge of traded products, market risk calculations, exposure dynamics, documentation, and mitigation methods.
- Understanding of banking products provided to insurance firms and their credit risk assessment.
- Excellent credit writing and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex risks clearly.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
Nice to have
- Formal credit and insurance sector training.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACA, ACCA, or FRM.
