HSE Assurance Manager

TL;DR

HSE Assurance Manager: Provide health, safety, environmental and assurance support across BT Networks with an accent on legal compliance, HSE governance, and continuous improvement. Focus on leading HSE reporting, coordinating risk profiling and assurance programmes, and conducting impartial Multi ISO audits while partnering with operational teams, contractors, and regulators.

Location: Field-based role across the UK with regular UK-wide travel; typically 3 days/week on site or with stakeholders and 2 days working from home or an office.

What you will do

• Lead implementation of BT HSE policies and Group behaviours through matrix teams and stakeholder networks.
• Coordinate local operating procedures to meet the Group’s HSE Integrated Management System and applicable legislation.
• Manage HSE continuous improvement initiatives and operational compliance programmes.
• Develop HSE management information and reporting to support Networks Risk, Business Assurance and Compliance expectations.
• Establish and embed an HSE assurance programme to monitor legal compliance and drive improvements with stakeholders and contractors.
• Conduct impartial Multi ISO audits, produce reports with findings, and support corrective actions.

Requirements

• Strong stakeholder management skills to influence and engage colleagues at all levels.
• Coaching skills to support, develop, and guide others.
• Analytical ability to interpret data and produce assurance outputs.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (Level 3).
• TechIOSH member (or working toward) and ISEP member (Environment) (or working toward).

Nice to have

• NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience in behavioural safety management, risk management, incident management/investigation, management systems, strategic planning, and communication management.
• Working knowledge/experience applying CDM.
• ISO auditor qualification (14001/45001).
