Director, Software Engineering (AI Workflows)

Location: Must be based in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo and attend the office at least 1 day per week.

What you will do

• Define and execute the vision for AI-powered workflows across the entire product ecosystem.
• Lead and scale a multi-team organization of ~30 engineers and 4-6 engineering managers.
• Oversee the development of AI foundations, including orchestration, evaluation, and safety guardrails.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data leadership to align technical strategy with customer outcomes.
• Drive the transition from feature-based AI to agentic, proactive business operations.
• Ensure system reliability, observability, and performance in production environments.

Requirements

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Must be based in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo.
• Proven experience building or leading production LLM/agentic systems.
• Deep understanding of agent orchestration, tool use, evaluation, and failure handling.
• Extensive experience managing managers and scaling engineering organizations.
• Strong systems thinking with a focus on end-to-end user workflows and cross-org alignment.
