Senior AI Engineer

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: CAD 169,000–253,000

What you will do

• Design, implement, and integrate production-grade intelligent agents into enterprise products.
• Orchestrate complex agentic workflows, including multi-agent systems, routing layers, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
• Develop reusable application layers around large language and foundation models for predictable, reliable user experiences.
• Apply governance, guardrails, security layers, and evaluation mechanisms to agents handling sensitive HR and financial data.
• Optimize latency, token usage, context-window efficiency, cost, and system reliability at scale.
• Lead engineering workstreams, own delivery from design through implementation, and mentor junior-to-mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend architecture, distributed systems, and API design, plus production LLM or agentic systems experience; alternatively, 5+ years in machine learning engineering or AI application development with 2+ years shipping LLM-backed products.
• 2+ years integrating large language or foundation models and modern AI APIs into user-facing enterprise products.
• 1+ year designing and scaling AI orchestration architectures, such as multi-agent frameworks, routing layers, or advanced RAG pipelines.
• 4+ years optimizing application performance and 4+ years deploying scalable systems on cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI governance, privacy, security, guardrails, explainability, and automated evaluation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
