Senior Commercial Underwriter (Commercial Auto)

Location: Remote in Ohio; applicants outside the Greater Cleveland area must be able to work remotely from a home office 100% of the time.

Salary: $70,000–$120,000 annual

What you will do

• Assess and price endorsements, renewals, and new commercial transportation business within established underwriting guidelines and authority.
• Underwrite general liability, commercial auto, physical damage, umbrella/excess, property, crime, motor truck cargo, contingent auto, and cargo risks.
• Review new business and renewal quotes before issuance and ensure timely, accurate policy preparation.
• Communicate underwriting standards, requirements, and guidelines to brokers and agents.
• Document underwriting rationale, review inspection reports, and verify exposure information.
• Manage relationships with assigned brokers and agents and provide responsive customer service.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience as a Transportation Underwriter in a multi-state, multi-line commercial insurance environment.
• Strong technical property and casualty underwriting knowledge, with a focus on Commercial Auto.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO commercial class codes, CLM rules, forms, rating, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of underwriting and pricing principles and the ability to make decisions based on program criteria and strategy.
• For candidates who are not local to the Greater Cleveland area or cannot commute daily, prior experience working remotely from a home office 100% of the time is required.
