Staff Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Must be based in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Not eligible for hire within the city limits of Chicago. Hybrid options available in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL.

Salary: $150,000 – $240,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the C++ agent for detecting, installing, and validating patches across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Review code for correctness, maintainability, and architectural health.
• Guide and mentor senior and mid-level engineers on the team.
• Translate roadmap priorities and customer needs into sound technical designs.
• Collaborate with mainline, catalog, and patching squads on integration points.

Requirements

• 10+ years of C++ development experience (Modern C++17 and above).
• Experience in cross-platform development using Win32 API and POSIX.
• Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and SQLite.
• Experience with CMake.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• No Visa sponsorship available.
