TL;DR

Electrical Harness Technician (Engineering): Fabricating and assembling high-reliability wire harnesses and cable assemblies for autonomous maritime sensing systems with an accent on defense-grade precision and reliability. Focus on interpreting engineering schematics, performing complex soldering and crimping, and ensuring system integrity for naval operations.

Location: Onsite in Torrance or Hawthorne, CA. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to comply with export control laws (ITAR/EAR).

Salary: $60 – $75 per hour

What you will do

  • Fabricate, assemble, and test wire harnesses and cable assemblies for defense-grade maritime hardware.
  • Work from engineering schematics and wiring diagrams to build systems for demanding environments.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to refine harness designs from prototype through production.
  • Perform crimping, soldering, splicing, and connector termination on various wire gauges.
  • Conduct continuity, hi-pot, and functional electrical testing on completed assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and organized work areas for all built assemblies.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience fabricating wire harnesses in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics.
  • Proficiency with crimping tools, soldering irons, and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required for ITAR/EAR compliance.
  • Experience with a wide variety of connector types and associated hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing defect-free assemblies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple builds in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 or J-STD-001 certification or training.
  • Experience building to MIL-SPEC or other defense/aerospace standards.
  • Familiarity with waterproof or ruggedized connector systems (e.g., Deutsch, Amphenol, Souriau).
  • Exposure to underwater, maritime, or submersible system builds.
  • Experience supporting early-stage prototype development.
