Medium Voltage Field Service Technician (Solar)

Location: Western Region; field-based and must reside in the territory. Remote work model with significant domestic and international travel.

Compensation: $38.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Test, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze SMA large-scale medium-voltage systems at customer sites.
• Perform transformer core testing, DGA analysis, warranty repairs, leak repairs, and cold-weld patch repairs.
• Use high-voltage test equipment to identify root causes and support quality 8D reports.
• Maintain assigned sites, spare-parts inventories, and product maintenance activities.
• Develop procedures for medium-voltage products and related accessories.
• Collaborate with global service, engineering, quality, suppliers, and customers on failure analysis and solutions.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• At least five years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications and five years with medium-voltage equipment.
• Required or employer-provided training for Medium Voltage Transformer Levels I and II, switchgear and circuit-breaker maintenance, electrical safety for utilities, and substation maintenance.
• Experience with high-voltage test equipment, cold-weld patch repairs, field transformer repairs, pad-mounted transformers, medium-voltage terminations, and switchgear operation.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred, or equivalent qualified experience.
• Ability to work occasional nonstandard hours, weekends, and nights; significant travel is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of solar or alternative-energy markets and the National Electrical Code.
• Advanced knowledge of power-plant measurement devices and techniques.
