Analytics Engineer

TL;DR

Analytics Engineer (SQL/dbt): Develop and own a trusted analytics data foundation with well-designed data models and pipelines, governed metric definitions, and systematic testing and quality monitoring. Focus on evolving dbt models into modular layers, shaping the semantic layer, enforcing standards via CI and code review, and building Prefect workflows with observability while diagnosing upstream data issues.

Location: Hybrid (assigned office, minimum 3 days per week)

What you will do

• Evolve dbt projects into modular, documented, and tested data models organized from raw sources to marts
• Shape the semantic layer by defining and governing how metrics are modeled, and drive adoption
• Define and uphold data modeling standards and conventions through code review, pairing, and documentation
• Partner with Data Scientists and Data Analysts to support datasets for analyses, dashboards, and ML models
• Build data testing practices and enforce them in CI, adding observability over data
• Diagnose upstream data issues and drive resolution with Data Engineering and Enterprise Systems teams; build and maintain Prefect workflows

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a comparable data role working with large datasets
• Expert in SQL, able to write and review complex queries
• Strong data modeling fundamentals with hands-on experience using dbt or a comparable transformation framework
• Engineering discipline for analytics code: version control, code review, testing, and CI
• Comfortable with Python and experience with workflow orchestration tools (Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster)
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery is a plus)
