TL;DR
Execution Zone Engineer – General Assembly Manufacturing/ Final Assembly (Automotive): Developing, launching, and optimizing General Assembly and Final Assembly manufacturing processes, automation, tooling, and equipment for vehicle programs with an accent on production readiness, safety, quality, and operational performance. Focus on managing equipment projects through installation and validation, resolving complex manufacturing issues, and coordinating suppliers and cross-functional teams during launches.

Location: Arlington, Texas, United States; onsite with full-time reporting to a specific location. The role requires frequent travel of at least 50%, with flexibility for travel up to 75%, off-shift hours, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard schedules. Relocation benefits are available for qualifying candidates.

What you will do

  • Lead manufacturing engineering activities for General Assembly and Final Assembly zones supporting new vehicle launches, model changes, and production operations.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, automation systems, equipment, tooling, conveyors, and workstation designs.
  • Manage equipment and tooling projects from concept through procurement, installation, validation, and production launch.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, suppliers, and integrators to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Support build events, process validation, PFMEA development, launch readiness, and issue resolution.
  • Drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, ergonomics, material flow, and cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing, process, industrial, or production engineering experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation systems, or assembly processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, solve complex technical problems, and make decisions independently.
  • Strong project management, analytical, organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship; candidates requiring current or future GM immigration sponsorship are not eligible.

Nice to have

  • Experience with General Assembly, Final Assembly, or automotive manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, conveyors, fastening systems, PLCs, or industrial controls.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Red X, PFMEA, process validation, or manufacturing risk assessment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and manufacturing layouts.
  • Experience with equipment installation, manufacturing launches, production readiness, OSHA requirements, and high-volume production environments.
