TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Assembly (Aerospace): Developing and validating tooling, work instructions, and mechanical assembly processes for actuators, mechanisms, and structural sub-assemblies with an accent on first article inspections, process capability, and PFMEA. Focus on designing production fixtures, troubleshooting assembly-floor issues, and transitioning engineering builds into repeatable, high-rate production.

What you will do

  • Develop, validate, and release manufacturing processes, work instructions, and specifications for mechanical assembly operations.
  • Design, procure, and qualify tooling, fixtures, manufacturing aids, workstations, and line layouts.
  • Lead first article inspections, process capability studies, PFMEA, and other process qualification activities.
  • Train and certify operators while supporting workforce ramp-up and production process adoption.
  • Partner with design engineering, quality, supply chain, procurement, and program management on DFM, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Troubleshoot assembly-floor issues and drive containment, root-cause corrective action, yield improvements, and transition from development builds to repeatable production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or aerospace engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing or validating manufacturing processes in production, manufacturing, or experimental environments.
  • Hands-on experience with tooling and fixture design, fabrication, qualification, hand tools, power tools, or fabrication equipment.
  • Strong understanding of APQP, including Control Plans, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Significant/Critical Characteristics.
  • Experience working directly on a production line or in a high-speed or high-output manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to access applicable export-controlled information; employment may require U.S. Government authorization, security clearance, citizenship, or other eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience training or supervising production operators.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, and flexible manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
