TL;DR
Manager of Administration (Administration): Provide complex financial, administrative, and operational support for the Alex Fraser Research Forest, including unit budgeting, financial record keeping and reporting, and administrative systems oversight with an accent on Workday-based reconciliation and contract/vendor management. Focus on coordinating HR activities, managing facilities and rentals, and supporting emergency preparedness and 24/7 call-out readiness.
Location: Alternate Site - Williams Lake, BC, Canada
Salary: $5,964.75 - $8,573.08 CAD Monthly

What you will do
- Manage unit budget: oversee revenues/expenses, year-end procedures, financial transactions, and account reconciliation.
- Develop AFRF budgets and forecasts; provide financial analysis and reporting for senior leadership and Forestry finance.
- Establish systems to manage revenue/expenses across consulting, harvesting, sponsored research, silviculture obligations, facility rentals, registrations, and major projects; reconcile internal accounting data against Workday.
- Manage licenses, caretaker agreements, and vendor contracts; ensure agreements meet operational, safety, and legislative standards.
- Coordinate HR activities (job design, recruiting, hiring, attendance tracking, performance management, leaves, and terminations) and support Workday-related processes.
- Lead facilities and administration: emergency preparedness/certification/planning and response coordination, equipment procurement, facility rental bookings and collections, and support for events and tours.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Completion of at least 7 of the 14 CPA academic prerequisites.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong customer service and communications skills; ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of office routines, software/technology, and University policies and procedures (with emphasis on financial policies and procedures).
- Onsite role at Williams Lake with no remote work option.
Nice to have
- Experience in accounting and administrative management.
- Class V Drivers License.
- Level I First Aid Certificate.
- Knowledge of the BC Forest Safety Council and completion of auditor training.
- Willingness to acquire and maintain FoodSafe and Serving It Right certifications.
- Working knowledge of the forest industry.
