What you will do

• Own the AGPL-3.0 / Enterprise licensing model end-to-end, leading outreach and negotiations to convert unlicensed commercial use into paid agreements.
• Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, licensing, distribution, and partnership agreements, building templates and playbooks from scratch.
• Manage the IP portfolio strategy and lifecycle, including trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets.
• Advise on GDPR, data processing agreements, and international data transfers across the UK, EU, US, and China.
• Establish AI governance and regulatory compliance processes while managing outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent with genuine experience working across multiple jurisdictions.
• Hands-on experience negotiating or enforcing copyleft/open-source licenses (AGPL, GPL, or similar).
• Strong track record drafting and negotiating SaaS and technology licensing agreements independently.
• Working knowledge of GDPR and cross-border data transfers.
• Ability to operate as the sole lawyer and build a legal function from the ground up in an intense startup environment.
• Must be based in London for on-site collaboration.

Nice to have

• In-house experience at an AI, computer vision, or open-source software company.
• Familiarity with YOLO or comparable dual-licensed open-source projects.
• Experience with SCA tooling, SPDX, SBOMs, or license-scanning tools.
• Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or other relevant languages.
