TL;DR

Law Clerk I (Legal): Providing litigation support for a federal agency with an accent on legal research, document review, and cite checking. Focus on assisting attorneys with complex legal opinions, motions, and briefs while ensuring high-quality output under pressure.

Location: Must be based in the United States (Chantilly/Fairfax, VA or remote/hybrid).

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Perform complex legal research and draft legal documents including motions, briefs, and memoranda.
  • Conduct cite checking using Westlaw and Lexis according to Blue Book standards.
  • Review and research Release of Information (ROI) requests and new case files.
  • Edit final decisions and draft legal opinions on recent case law.
  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation and brief them on legal theories and facts.
  • Respond to citizen inquiries and review AMICUS briefs.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
  • Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, and file management systems.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Relativity document review software.
  • Previous experience in a government or litigation support environment.
  • Published legal writings or participation in Law Review.
  • Active security clearance.
