EHS Engineer (Manufacturing): Developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental health and safety programs for a manufacturing facility with an accent on regulatory compliance, hazard identification, industrial hygiene, and fire and chemical safety. Focus on inspecting equipment and facilities, investigating industrial accidents, conducting safety training and air quality tests, and implementing corrective actions.

Location: Henrico, Virginia, United States; relocation is not eligible; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $79,100–$108,700 USD annual

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and monitor environmental health and safety programs and policies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Advise departments on equipment design, fire prevention, workplace safety, ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, and chemical safety.
  • Inspect machinery, facilities, fire equipment, and safety systems to identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Define requirements for protective clothing and devices, and design or oversee the installation of machinery safety devices.
  • Conduct safety training, investigate industrial accidents, prepare reports, and perform air quality testing.
  • Audit business units and administer workers’ compensation, the OSHA 300 log, and return-to-work programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences, health sciences, or equivalent EH&S experience.
  • 3–7 years of experience in EH&S or a related position, with knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, and guidelines.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing practices and ergonomics evaluation.
