What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional team of Backend, iOS, Android, and Web engineers to modernize the media stack.
• Optimize playback performance and delivery metrics including TTFF, stall rates, and EBVS.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to scale media distribution via CDNs, edge computing, and caching strategies.
• Drive standardization of streaming protocols and container formats like HLS, MPEG-DASH, and CMAF.
• Establish technical vision and direction while balancing platform scale with product velocity.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, and ML teams to align on organizational objectives and maximize impact.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of industry experience with 3+ years in engineering management for high-volume consumer systems.
• Strong background in video streaming technologies, CDN routing, and media ingestion.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, or Python.
• Experience defining and governing Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Indicators (SLIs).

Nice to have

• Experience managing cross-platform teams including both Backend and Mobile/Client engineers.
• Experience managing media creation tools such as video/image editors or composers.
