Health & Safety Manager (Renewable Energy)

TL;DR

Health & Safety Manager (Renewable Energy): Overseeing health and safety operations for BESS projects across the UK and Ireland with an accent on legal compliance, risk management, and safety culture. Location: Remote (UK & Ireland). Regular travel across the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and frequent travel throughout Europe is required.

What you will do

• Lead the operational implementation of the Health & Safety strategy throughout the UK and Ireland.
• Provide expert health and safety advice and operational support to project teams and senior leadership.
• Ensure full compliance with UK and Irish H&S legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
• Review and guide risk assessments, method statements, and operational risk controls.
• Conduct site inspections, H&S audits, and contractor assessments to verify compliance.
• Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements

• Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• Chartered Membership of IOSH, or actively working towards Chartered status.
• Significant operational H&S experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or renewable energy.
• Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and understanding of Irish requirements.
• Full UK/Irish driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
• Experience in contractor management and working within multi-disciplinary project teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and High Voltage electrical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Irish construction safety legislation.
• Experience with ISO 45001 management systems.
• Internal, supplier, or contractor auditing experience.
