Area Manager

TL;DR

Area Manager (Fulfillment/Logistics): Launching and operating a fulfillment center area while leading a team of 30–100 on the operating floor with an accent on safety, SLA-driven performance, and inventory/quality metrics. Focus on troubleshooting fulfillment issues with cross-functional partners, driving process improvements, and using data (including SQL and reporting) to identify root causes and improve operations.

Location: Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, United States. Onboarding and training for three months at Des Plaines, IL before transitioning to Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Salary: $64,800 - $81,000 USD (base salary, excludes bonus, equity, and benefits).

What you will do

• Coach, manage, and develop a team of 30–100 and communicate policies as the primary information source.
• Create, manage, and support recognition programs across the department.
• Support safety programs and OSHA compliance; ensure building security and product loss prevention procedures are followed.
• Own performance reporting for the fulfillment center: on-time receiving/shipping, inventory accuracy, and packing quality; maintain strict SLA expectations with clear written/verbal updates.
• Serve as an escalation point, troubleshoot fulfillment problems with cross-functional partners, and mitigate risks and operational issues.
• Analyze inventory accuracy gaps and defect rates, track learnings/best practices, and help prioritize resolution of systemic problems with Growth and Engineering.

Requirements

• 2+ years managing staff of 5+.
• Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and perform frequent physical tasks (push/pull/squat/bend/reach); stand/walk up to 10–12 hours.
• Ability to work in variable noise and temperature conditions (60–90°F, occasionally above 90°F) and on a secure mezzanine up to 40 feet (where applicable).
• Willingness to work any permanent shift, including overnights and holidays (shift may overlap part of the weekend).
• Experience leveraging problem-solving and data analysis to make high-judgment decisions; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in warehousing/fulfillment/transportation-logistics management; experience with SQL and creating/running reports.
