Senior Analyst/Associate, Transmission Modeling (Renewable Energy)

TL;DR

Senior Analyst/Associate, Transmission Modeling (Renewable Energy): Supporting the analysis of CAISO and WECC power markets with an accent on transmission analysis, congestion, and curtailment risk. Focus on performing SCED studies, maintaining production-cost models, and providing insights for project siting and M&A activities.

Location: Must be based near one of our offices in San Francisco, San Diego, Scottsdale, Houston, Denver, or Princeton. This is a hybrid role with in-office collaboration expected on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Salary: $110,000 – $155,000 USD

What you will do

• Perform short- and medium-term SCED studies to assess basis, curtailment, and congestion risks.
• Maintain and update internal production-cost models based on evolving market fundamentals.
• Support energy optimization and trading teams with scenario-based analysis to mitigate market risks.
• Lead engagements with external transmission consultants for project financing reports.
• Participate in ISO, RTO, and PUC stakeholder meetings to track market developments.
• Analyze market impacts of planned generation, transmission upgrades, and load changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field required.
• 3+ years of experience in an analytical role at a renewable energy developer, ISO, RTO, or energy trading firm.
• 2+ years of experience performing production-cost modeling using SCED software (e.g., PROMOD, PLEXOS).
• Knowledge of CAISO and WECC market fundamentals and power systems.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Python.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (no H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).
