Senior Insurance Accountant

TL;DR

Senior Insurance Accountant (Finance): Managing insurance and general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and special projects for legal entities with an accent on premium, claims, and reinsurance accounting. Focus on enhancing financial processes, ensuring accurate month-end/year-end closes, and supporting internal and external audits.

Location: Must be based in Atlanta, GA (Hybrid: 2 days per week in office)

Salary: $80,000–$95,000

What you will do

• Prepare and post journal entries for premiums, claims, reinsurance, investments, and intercompany transactions.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting processes.
• Manage reinsurance accounting, including cession statements, settlements, and reconciliations.
• Handle investment accounting and reconcile investment accounts.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with statutory statements, audit schedules, and IBNR reserve entries.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to commute to Atlanta, GA
• BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment

Nice to have

• Insurance industry experience
• CPA, CMA, or MBA certification
• Experience with Oracle
