TL;DR

Controls & Process Engineer (Automotive): Implementation and validation of equipment and systems controls for electric propulsion and battery cell manufacturing with an accent on PLC/PC software and process integration. Focus on leading capital equipment projects, improving test uptime, and ensuring data quality in laboratory environments.

Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead projects for the definition, sourcing, engineering, and commissioning of new capital equipment in laboratories.
  • Provide controls-related technical direction and oversight to external vendors and suppliers.
  • Generate technical solutions for electric propulsion systems and battery cell manufacturing equipment.
  • Support and resolve escalated equipment issues to improve overall test uptime.
  • Lead continuous improvement engineering activities while adhering to strict corporate safety standards.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel (approximately 5-10%).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in equipment controls, process integration, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects with high autonomy.
  • Knowledge of equipment specification and qualification processes.
  • Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Beckhoff).
  • Proficiency in industrial networking protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP, and EthernetIP.
  • Experience with GM-specific processes (G-risk, G-comply, Design for Health & Safety).
  • Experience in purchasing capital equipment.
