What you will do

• Design, program, and commission complex PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to optimize manufacturing operations.
• Lead CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning, including vendor management, FAT/SAT, and validation.
• Integrate shop-floor equipment with Industrial IoT platforms, MES systems, and cloud-based analytics.
• Establish and own automation standards, controls architecture, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Collaborate with IT and Data Engineering to improve equipment performance and data visibility (OEE).
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers across the manufacturing organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, or Controls Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, and project leadership.
• Expertise in PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric) and SCADA (e.g., Ignition, FactoryTalk View).
• Strong knowledge of industrial protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, and OPC UA.
• Experience with VFDs, servo systems, motion control, robotics, and machine vision.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Fairport, NY.

Nice to have

• Experience utilizing AI tools to improve engineering productivity and process optimization.
• Understanding of IIoT concepts, Smart Factory architectures, and industrial edge gateways.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, ERP systems, or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
• Experience supporting manufacturing dashboards and KPI reporting.
