What you will do

• Design complex backend systems from the ground up in partnership with hardware and infrastructure teams.
• Implement and maintain micro-backend architecture on AWS to monitor and manage the commercial fleet.
• Develop fleet management solutions and vehicle communication systems.
• Establish infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability for product scaling.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver end-to-end product lifecycles.
• Foster team culture through mentorship, technical feedback, and engineering excellence.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in building backend services.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficiency with web communication protocols including REST, gRPC, and GraphQL.
• Experience building large-scale, high-concurrency, and safety-critical backend services.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to write effective technical specifications.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment in Pittsburgh, PA.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded autonomous vehicle development.
• Knowledge of IoT and real-time device-to-cloud communication.
• Experience with application release strategies like feature flagging and canary releases.
• Background in fleet management for robots, vehicles, or drones.
• Experience with observability and monitoring of safety-critical systems.
