What you will do

• Own the technical direction for complex initiatives spanning device APIs, event pipelines, lifecycle management, and partner-facing platform capabilities.
• Lead architectural design for medium-to-large initiatives, producing high-quality design documents and defining shared platform patterns.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of foundational platform capabilities and partner-facing components within the Core Partner Platform.
• Build reusable frameworks, libraries, and components that reduce duplicated effort and accelerate delivery across the department.
• Mentor engineers through design and code reviews, pairing, and coaching on architectural thinking and engineering craft.
• Implement AI-assisted development tools into the engineering workflow for drafting, debugging, and refactoring while maintaining strict validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering.
• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with a track record of Staff-level scope and impact.
• Proven experience leading large, multi-engineer technical initiatives from architecture through delivery autonomously.
• Deep proficiency in RESTful/gRPC APIs, distributed systems, event-driven architectures (Kafka), and shared platform design.
• Must be based in Boston, Massachusetts (office presence required 4 days a week).
• No sponsorship for employment authorization or immigration-related support is available.

Nice to have

• Strong experience with .NET/C# and SQL Server.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, including schema design and consumer patterns at scale.
• Experience with IoT platforms, device lifecycle management, or integration-heavy backend architectures.
• Experience with microservice or domain-aligned architecture patterns and incremental migration from monoliths.
• Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for integrating AI agents with platform services.
