Backend Engineer III (Cybersecurity)

Backend Engineer (Go/Java/Python): Designing and scaling foundational services that orchestrate data and execution logic for a cybersecurity platform with an accent on high-performance distributed systems and internet-scale data streams. Location: Hybrid (Sunnyvale, CA or Redmond, WA); must be comfortable visiting the office twice a week

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead backend engineering from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications across various products.
• Design, develop, and operate resilient, fault-tolerant services and highly available APIs.
• Manage the full software lifecycle, including documentation, testing, deployment, and operation.
• Troubleshoot critical production issues during on-call rotations and implement long-term solutions.
• Collaborate on cross-team platform-level initiatives to improve system architecture and stability.
• Mentor other developers on backend, data storage technologies, and system design.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience focusing on large-scale distributed systems.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in data structures and algorithms.
• Expertise in Go, Java, Python, Scala, or Node.js (Go is used extensively).
• Proven ability to scale systems via sharding, partitioning, and horizontal scaling.
• Experience utilizing AI technologies to improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
• Strong understanding of engineering best practices, including TDD and peer code reviews.

Nice to have

• Contributions to open source projects or libraries (GitHub, Stack Overflow).
• Existing experience with Go, Scala, AWS, Kafka, or OpenSearch.
• Prior experience in the security domain or building platform services.
