Embedded Software Designer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for spacecraft and ground-based systems supporting a growing satellite fleet.
• Implement secure communications capabilities, including encryption, authentication, and key exchange.
• Build low-level software such as device drivers, kernel modules, hardware interfaces, and platform services.
• Develop automated tests, validation tools, and technical documentation for reliable software delivery.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Collaborate across software, hardware, and operations teams to define requirements, debug complex issues, and improve system performance and reliability.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience developing embedded software for complex, high-reliability systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including concurrency, interrupt handling, memory-mapped peripherals, and SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN interfaces.
• Experience with embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments, including Yocto/OpenEmbedded and FreeRTOS.
• Experience developing Linux kernel modules, device drivers, device tree integrations, automated test frameworks, or hardware/software integration test environments.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows, code reviews, debugging, testing, performance analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with aerospace software, secure boot, hardware security modules, certificate and key management, authentication, or encrypted communications.
• Knowledge of Linux networking, multi-stage bootloaders, modern networking protocols, RTL, and embedded SoCs.
