Staff Networking Software Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada. Hybrid arrangement: candidates can be considered anywhere in Canada; candidates within 75 km of a hub must work onsite at the Markham Elevation Center at least 3 days per week.

Salary: CAD 147,000–196,600 per year.

What you will do

• Design and develop software for Linux-based vehicle networking and communication systems.
• Work with hardware teams to meet demanding vehicle power and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with application and cloud teams to ensure end-to-end connectivity, reliability, and performance.
• Triage complex system-wide networking issues across drivers, operating systems, protocols, and applications.
• Support the delivery of highly reliable software using telemetry and observability practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and the network stack from drivers through applications.
• Understanding of application-level protocols such as HTTP.
• Networking experience with at least one of Linux, Android, or QNX.
• Strong knowledge of at least one of C, C++, or Java.
• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with WiFi, LTE, 5G, Bluetooth, or UWB.
• Experience using packet sniffers or protocol analyzers.
• Experience shipping highly reliable software with telemetry or observability.
• Strong writing, collaboration, and system design skills.
