QNX Senior Systems Software Developer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Base salary: CAD 108,750–152,250 per year, plus a variable incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Design and implement software drivers for next-generation hardware peripherals and automotive computing platforms.
• Develop and enhance QNX Board Support Packages, including board bring-up, bootloader configuration, and performance tuning.
• Create driver architectures for serial, storage, networking, USB, PCIe, power-management, and security hardware.
• Adapt existing drivers for embedded platforms while maximizing software reuse, efficiency, and simplicity.
• Develop quality-focused software for safety-critical systems and support complete subsystems through delivery.
• Work independently and provide project or team leadership for senior-level responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Established software development experience with strong C and Assembly programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with embedded operating systems such as QNX or Linux; Green Hills and VxWorks are also relevant.
• Prior device-driver development experience across processor architectures such as ARM, x86, or PPC.
• Experience with bootloaders, board bring-up, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, storage devices, PCIe, USB, networking, power management, and security hardware.
• Senior-level candidates should demonstrate ownership of complete subsystems, mastery of multiple bus architectures, and project or team leadership experience.

Nice to have

• Experience developing software according to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or MIL standards.
• Expertise with TPM, TrustZone, UFS, SD/eMMC, AHCI/SATA, NAND/NOR, or wireless networking interfaces.
