Engineering Manager (Software Development)

Location: Must be based in the Greater Seattle area and able to work on-site 5 days/week.

Salary: $240,000–$280,000

What you will do

• Lead technical direction, code quality, and execution processes for one or more software engineering teams.
• Bridge the gap between product requirements and engineering delivery by managing OKRs and execution plans.
• Mentor engineers, facilitate communities-of-practice, and provide actionable feedback to foster team growth.
• Ensure robust engineering documentation and maintain a deep understanding of the current software state.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
• Drive a culture of psychological safety, cooperation, and innovation using Agile and Lean principles.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Must be able to work on-site in Seattle 5 days/week.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years in software development and 2+ years in an engineering leadership role with direct management responsibilities.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience delivering services within a large-scale distributed microservices architecture.
• Expertise in Java, Spring Framework (including Spring Boot), and Java-oriented middleware.

Nice to have

• Experience with Javascript and React, Angular, or Vue.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with identity management systems.
• Enthusiasm for using AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude for productivity.
