Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; open to candidates in all 50 states

Salary: $132,000–$150,000 per year, with potential bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Coach, support, and develop a team of approximately 5–10 engineers and contract employees.
• Partner with product, design, and technology leaders to set direction, align priorities, and deliver production software.
• Attract and retain engineering talent while building a strong team culture.
• Remove blockers, resolve ambiguity, and coordinate integrations, engineering practices, and new technologies.
• Lead tier-3 support, including triage, resolution, communication, and root-cause fixes.
• Participate in technical design and architecture decisions and identify opportunities for product, tooling, and process innovation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams and developing people.
• Experience managing teams delivering production software across the full product lifecycle.
• Understanding of application architecture, integration design, deployment, and testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to attract, grow, and retain engineering talent.
• Ability to clear a background check and work from the United States.

Nice to have

• AWS experience, including API Gateway, Elastic Beanstalk, Aurora, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, or CodeBuild.
• Knowledge of mobile development, infrastructure as code, identity and SSO, observability, feature flags, or PHP modernization.
• Experience with workflow automation, database migration, data pipelines, or ETL patterns.
• Background in edtech, career platforms, two-sided marketplaces, startups, or early-stage technology companies.
