Director of Software Engineering (AI/Azure)

Location: USA - Remote

Salary: $184,000–$231,000 annual base salary, with potential bonus eligibility for non-sales roles.

What you will do

• Own delivery of a 0-to-1 modernization initiative for an Azure cloud-native equity management platform, from MVP through general availability.
• Translate Solution Architecture direction into a resourced, sequenced, and accountable delivery plan across Engineering, Product, and UX.
• Drive AI-first, Spec-Driven Development using GitHub SpecKit and Claude Code across Azure SQL, Data Lake, Fabric, AKS, Entra, .NET, and Angular.
• Own delivery for broker integration programs and the core Certent Equity Management platform serving more than 1,200 customers.
• Lead 4–6 teams across platform modernization, broker applications and integrations, the core CEM application, and platform services.
• Manage executive communication, delivery risks, capacity trade-offs, hiring, organizational design, and migration from the legacy application to the new platform.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise SaaS, including 5+ years leading multiple Managers or Senior Managers at Director level or equivalent scope.
• Demonstrated success delivering ambiguous, cross-functional programs with external customer, SLA, or regulated delivery commitments.
• Technical fluency in modern software architecture and Azure cloud-native platforms, including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Data Lake, and medallion architecture with temporal tables.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, code review standards, definition-of-done discipline, and distributed global teams across multiple time zones.
• Proven experience with spec-driven or AI-assisted development methodologies and strong executive and customer-facing communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Background in financial services, equity compensation, banking, brokerage integrations, or another regulated domain.
• Experience delivering enterprise SaaS programs serving more than 1,000 clients.
