What you will do

• Design and implement the people function, planning for both the current team and a future 1,000-person organization.
• Define and evolve company culture and values to maintain agility during rapid scaling.
• Build a data-driven people organization with real-time dashboards for headcount, attrition, and hiring funnels.
• Establish the company's first performance management system and manager training frameworks.
• Develop a comprehensive compensation philosophy and equity framework from scratch.
• Manage employee relations, dispute resolution, and direct feedback processes.

Requirements

• Experience building a people function from zero within a startup or early-stage environment.
• Must be based in New York City for on-site work.
• Strong, evidence-based opinions on culture, performance, and compensation design.
• Willingness to handle operational tasks including onboarding, benefits, and immigration paperwork.
• Ability to lead difficult conversations and communicate directly with founders and employees.
• Deep integration and informed perspective on the tech, startup, and AI landscape.
