RMS Associate - Chemical Safety (Chemical Safety): Coordinating the administration, promotion, and support of the hirify.global Chemical Safety Program with an accent on regulatory compliance, worksite inspections, and hazard assessment. Focus on developing training materials, conducting incident investigations, and providing expert consultation to the research community on hazardous material handling and storage.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Compensation: $6,438.50 - $9,255.58 CAD Monthly

What you will do

  • Conduct workplace inspections of research laboratories and operation sites to verify compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and teach the Laboratory Chemical Safety Course to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provide expert consultation on chemical hazard recognition, assessment, and control procedures.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents related to hazardous material handling in collaboration with safety committees.
  • Develop and update chemical safety procedures, manuals, and communication strategies.
  • Support compliance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations through site visits and guidance.

Requirements

  • College Diploma in an applicable field (B.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, WHMIS, TDG, and BC Fire Code.
  • Ability to perform physical site visits, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Must be based in Vancouver, BC, for onsite operations.

Nice to have

  • Teaching or training experience.
  • B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
