Health, Safety and Environment Specialist (Cannabis)

Location: Onsite in Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada; occasional support or visits may be required at other sites within Canada.

Salary: $71,000–$87,000 CAD annually to start.

What you will do

• Advise facility leadership on health, safety, environmental compliance, employee wellbeing, and operational risk.
• Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, job hazard analyses, audits, inspections, and PPE compliance checks.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions, and analyze safety trends.
• Develop and deliver new-hire orientations, HSE training, awareness programs, safety communications, and engagement initiatives.
• Support WorkSafeBC claims, modified duties, return-to-work plans, emergency procedures, drills, and evacuation planning with HR and facility teams.
• Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, workplace inspections, compliance documentation, reports, dashboards, and safety management system updates.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of HSE experience.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices, including WSBC, WSIB, and WHMIS.
• Experience leading incident investigations, hazard assessments, corrective actions, and HSE training across multiple departments and organizational levels.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
• Must be able to work onsite in Pemberton and in office and production environments with noise, dust, varying temperatures, controlled substances, frequent walking and standing, stairs, and PPE requirements.

Nice to have

• CRSP designation.
• Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or food production.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with incident reporting software.
